The Cody's Corner - Cody let's you know what "really" happened at UFC 115!

Chuck Liddell vs Rich Franklin
In my heart I truly believed Chuck was going to win this fight. I really felt he was in good shape and was ready to go out in a blaze of glory. The first round was looking good for Chuck until he got a little carried away and…yet again Chuck goes out cold. Rich Franklin has only knocked one other fighter “out cold” like that (Nate Quarry), so Rich's power is not something you would talk about when breaking him down as a fighter. I thought if Franklin was going to win this fight it would be by submission or decision....NEVER did I once think he was going to end it by KO. But you have to look at it like this, Chuck got OVER aggressive and Rich caught him coming in, simple as that. You can’t really say Rich dominated him and caught him with a spectacular punch...that didn’t happen. But how it happened isn't the point, if Rich Franklin can knock you out like that you have NO business fighting any more! Chuck should hang them up because he will not win another fight. I think Randy Couture could knock out Chuck right now and that is saying something. He did well against Franklin, I give him that, but he made one too many mistakes. As far as Franklin goes, this doesn't really shoot him up the ranks in my opinion, but I am interested to see where he goes next.
Mirko Cro Cop vs Pat Barry
I don't know about any of you, but as much as I enjoyed this fight I was also irritated. I picked Barry because I thought he was the younger faster more powerful striker and we didn’t see that. Despite the two knock downs, Barry gave Cro Cop WAY too much respect and I dare anyone to argue with that because it was clear from the beginning. He attacked him in the first 30 seconds of the fight and did not much after-wards. If you know The Cody, you know he isn’t for strikers taking a fellow striker to the ground. But too be honest I was ok with Cro Cop taking Barry down due to he did not shoot right away i.e. Cain Velasquez and Ben Rothwell (who I will get too later), he stood up with Barry for most of the fight. The fact still stands, in my opinion, if Barry attacked Cro Cop more like he did against Hardonk and even Tim Hague (until he got choked out), I bet you Barry would of won this fight… but he respected Cro Cop a little too much and it ultimately cost him. Great win for Cro Cop and I think a big step back for Barry, I'd love to see Barry against Cheick Kongo and I would like to see Cro Cop against Rothwell next.
The Cody continues his breakdown of Martin Kampmann vs Paulo Thiago - Ben Rothwell vs Gilbert Yvel - Carlos Condit vs Rory Macdonald & Extra Thoughts in the "COMMENT" section.

          Martin Kampmann vs Paulo Thiago

Much like I think of Cain Velesquez, I also think Paulo Thiago is a way overrated fighter and tonight I believe it was proven. Kampmann has had some set backs I admit, but I got to say I never have been more impressed with him until tonight. Kampmann dominated not only the standing but the ground game as well, which is surprising with a high caliber black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu like Thiago. Now I do not think as highly of Kampmann as The JDH does but I think he is a top ten welterweight and I would like to see him fight maybe Dan Hardy next (speaking of which where the hell is Dan Hardy anyway) or maybe Dong Hyun Kim, either one I think he has a good chance to win. Paulo Thiago is a “good” fighter, but not a “great” fighter. If I had to choose a next opponent for him I'd have to say maybe Carlos Condit, I think that would be a real entertaining fight. I don’t think Thaigo will be much of a force in the UFC any more. People have figured out his game and I think he will win one fight of his next 3… watch.

          THE CODY'S CORNER CONTINUED:

          Ben Rothwell vs Gilbert Yvel

This was the most FRUSTRATING fight of the night. First Ben Rothwell's punk ass pulls a Rashad Evans and says "I'm going to knock you out" blah, blah, blah and then pretty much uses his fat ass to smother Yvel for most of the fight. I know most of you call that a "smart game-plan" but I call that winning by BITCH OUT! That should be an official method of winning in MMA "Bitch Out" because Rashad Evans, Cain Velesquez and now Ben Rothwell have all won by this method. Anyway another frustrating part was Yves Lavigne, ok this is the dude known for HORRIBLE stoppages, but yet Yvel sits there pounding away at Rothwell for a whole minute with Rothwell not responding and Lavigne just stands there. He was probably thinking about what fighter he is going to screw next and low and behold he is already screwing one. That fight SHOULD have been stopped! Yvel, I think, was robbed in a lot of ways because Rothwell is big and fat and decided not to stand, even though he vowed to knock out Yvel. Anyway, Yvel was robbed! I would love to see him fight Gonzaga maybe even Cheick Kongo or even Pat Barry. DAMN! Pat Barry vs Gilbert Yvel would be a hell of a fight. As for Rothwell...yeah who cares.

          Carlos Condit vs Rory Macdonald

I really do not know what to say about this fight. I mean the last fight I just talked about should of been stopped and this one perhaps shouldn't of been. Now I am a big Condit fan, I was rooting for him all the way, but kicking his ass or not you do not stop a fight with 7 seconds to go!! Macdonald was getting pulverized in the last round, but he was coherent and at the time of the stoppage Condit landed one punch and then it was stopped? Oh yea that makes a bunch of sense. I know the welterweight division is kind of GSP, Koscheck, Alves, Fitch, basically the 4 best fighters in the division and you are hoping to throw someone else in that mix… but come on. All I can say is I would not want to be the next opponent for Rory Macdonald because from what I saw, I think that dude is someone to fear. Carlos, he is a good fighter and he helps put a card together in my opinion, as I said I like to see him fight Paulo Thiago next.

          THE CODY'S CORNER CONTINUED:

          Extra Thoughts

Evan Dunham, he is making me feel smart because I knew he would beat Griffin. I think he is a dark horse in the division. I would like to see him fight Melvin Guillard, Jeremy Stephens, Matt Wiman or Sam Stout. I think Melvin Guillard would be the toughest one, but I think the other fights he would win. Tyson Griffin, I believe will now fall into irrelevancy, he will just be a name on a card now. My boy David Loiseau loses again, what the hell happen? I have always been a fan of David Loiseau! I was rooting for him in his title fight against Rich Franklin, but since then he’s done nothing. If you look back since that fight, he has not won in the UFC since his stoppage of the late Evan Tanner. My boy has fallen and fallen hard. Mac Danzig I believe should be the first Ultimate Fighter winner to get cut from the UFC. He has only won two fights in the UFC since he won the show. TUF winner or not, he has no business in the UFC any more… but then again, with the UFC signing guys like Pestruzelli, oh my bad, I meant Petruzelli.

And for my final thought, I think out of everyone on this card Martin Kampmann’s win is the only one that really means anything. I think all the other fights were just amusement for us to enjoy. I think Kampmann can make a run for an actual “title”… everyone else that won.....not likely.

Looks like we have to go through this AGAIN! You repeat yourself so I am going to repeat myself. I have NO problem with the ground game,in fact so much so if I were to be in an MMA fight tomorrow that would be where my strength would lye is on the ground.

I get it, in MMA any thing goes fight how you want to fight that is with in the rules but you are still FIGHTERS. Ben Rothwell what is his strength? Striking. What is Gilbert Yvel's strength? Striking. Why did we have to watch an oversized lummox lay on Yvel when they are both strikers? I mean Rothwell didn't even kick his ass on the ground he just used his weight to grind out a decision (i.e Roy Nelson) come on no one wants to see that crap. Rothwell bitched out of the fight because he was afraid to lose, not because he wanted to win. Ask any fighter and they will tell you the diffrence between wanting to win and not wanting to lose.

Cain Velesquez is a wrestler so you more so expect him to take you down. To be honest my problem with him isn't that he runs to the ground as soon as the fight starts (which he does) it is after the Cheick Kongo fight he said Kongo never hurt me or shook his head like "Oh I whooped his ass" No no bitchface you scurried to the ground and just punched him...he was closer to stopping you than you were to stopping him. That is my problem, and that the UFC REFUSES to challenge Cain because they give him a one dimensional fighter each and every time. Dos Santos can submit him and knock him out....NOPE! Frank Mir is bigger and stronger and has also stopped Nogueira...NOPE! Velesquez is overrated say what you want but he will be exposed soon.

So Tim Lee, Dr. MMA whatever the hell you call yourself. Stop repeating yourself just because I think these pussy fighters are in fact.....well pussies. You break down fighters and their fights how you want and I will do it how I want because as I have said MILLIONS of times and why not make it 1 million and 1, THAT IS WHAT MAKES THE CODY....THE CODY.

I think Tim Lee and the Cody should fight. I give 5 to 1 odds to Dr. MMA... lol

Cody. I want you to go these fighters gym and call them pussies to there face and also challenge them to a fight at the gym. let's see what happens to you? as a matter of fact, tape it and let's have it posted on thelightsoutshow.com?

I know for a fact an mma fan has challenged Tito Ortiz & Josh Koscheck on mma forums and showed up to the gym. Both of these mma fans got there ass kicked in under 5 mins.

Chris...I think everyone knows that The_Cody is no Jordan Breen, Josh Gross, Jeff Cain, or etc...

          Cody,

Ben Rothwell trained at Gracie Barra and also with Matt Hume for Gilbert Yvel. Both gyms are known for grappling, more than striking.

Also the Ref's don't pay attention to the clock. Also "Big" John McCarthy said "we can't even hear the time keeper give the 10 seconds left warning."

Cody, this is a SPORT, NOT ENTERTAINMENT. At Best Cody, you are 1/2 of an MMA Fan, Not a TRUE 100% MMA Fan. you area 50% of MMA Fan at Best.

          Cody,

Another thing. Some of these athlete's who compete in MMA admit that they don't consider themselves "fighters", but a "competitor" or "martial artist."

          The WWE Cody said...

Dr MMA no offense buddy but you wouldn't last a minute against me I would crush you.

I try to keep this under wraps because I dont want to hear people say oh your full of crap or what a liar. But Tim your wrong I have been to an MMA gym I have rolled with MMA fighters (not elite but they have professional records) I know how hard it is. And guess what Tim you must not know me to well but I do have the balls to walk up to Rothwell Velesquez or any other mma fighter I think is a pussy and tell them straight to their face what I think of them. I am not naive enough to think I can take them but I am brave of enough to let them know they fight like pussies.

That is just who I am and how I roll if you dont like it...tough shit I dont care man. Tim I have no personal problem with you, or will never INTENTIONALLY disrespect you. But you dont have to join in with the rest of these no life internet geeks who have issues with themselves so they decide to bash other people. All you have to do is say, I disagree this is what I think and leave it at that not retarded comparisons.

If you really want to find out if you can take me Tim well then by all means. But I dont think it needs to be like that.

As for Anonymous, I see your done sucking on your daddies pina colada where ya been? Your going through menopause aren't you buddy damn sorry to hear that I hope your titties dont start to lactate on you man that can be kind of gross.

Anybody else want to say something about what I am writing cool man say it i dont care what you have to say call me a fat fuck say I dont know what I am talking about. You will just hear from me back. I invite anyone and everyone to say what they want.

All The Cody does is give you a bias opinion about MMA fighters and MMA fights because everyone else is too chicken shit to say something. Everywhere you look on an MMA site they have writers sitting there thinking of things to say and making sure not to offend anyone. As for me what I write is from the top of my head no rough drafts just straight from the heart and I dont give a flying fuck who I offend it is what it is. For all the fans that want to read the uncensored truth about a fight well I write this for them.

As for the rest of you rejects you are the reason TLOS gave me my own blog to write on their page so I thank you for that because once again you are just going to continue to build my legend. And anonymous will continue to try to be the next The Cody when we all know I am the one and the only and whether you douches like it or not I am here to stay!

          Cody...

i didn't challenge you to a mma or grappling match in any way, shape, or form. please let that go.

If you think that fighter's don't get offended what people write on sherdog, mmaweekly, or etc... you are incorrect. IF you remember B.J. Penn got upset at all the mma websites because of what they wrote about his loss to GSP from ufc 94.

Cody...Toby Imada who fights in Bellator admitted that he is NOT a fan of MMA. He just competes in MMA purely for competition.

Cody...What would you say to fighters in the UFC, Strikeforce, WEC or etc.. that say "I don't consider myself a fighter, but an athlete or a martial artist?"

Then there is Dan Hardy who says "GSP is an athlete, who was trained to be a fighter. I on the other hand am a born fighter."

          "Dr. MMA" Tim Lee said...

          Cody,

Evan Shoman from TapouT Radio says he would rather see Fighter's fight smart even though it may be boring to get the win, then fight dumb and lose.

Greg Jackson: "Anderson Silva Vs. Thales Leites is one of the most beautiful technical fights I have ever seen. Entertainment is in the eye of the beholder."
