The Cody's Corner - UFC Middleweight Division

UFC Middleweight Division:
For a while the UFC's Middleweight division was a talented division, from top to bottom. There was a point where it seemed like any one could be the Middleweight Champion. Now ever since the emergence of Anderson Silva and his UFC debut against Chris Leben, that had the UFC world buzzing. The Middleweight division seems to have fallen at the seams. Let me
explain. In the beginning, we were interested in who Anderson Silva would fight next after Rich Franklin. But then it seemed no one could beat him and it was like "Uhhh who cares Anderson is going to win any way". But we can't point the finger at Anderson Silva for just being a great fighter. My opinion the reason why the Middleweight division seems so meaningless now a days is because of the UFC themselves. Think about it, in Anderson's last few title defenses who opposed the biggest threat to him? We had Demian Maia last fight, who had little or no stand up; We had Thales Leites before that same thing as Maia, and before that was Patrick Cote who all he has is stand up. Those are not legitimate title defenses, yes they fought their way to the title but did not beat the best competition on the way up. I have asked this question before and I am going to ask it again, why was Nate Marquardt denied a title shot time after time? Rich Franklin who was dominated same as Marquardt only had to fight two fights to get back to the title. Nate Marquardt was running through everyone, and had it not been for points deducted from him in the Thales Leites fight his only loss in the UFC before the Chael Sonnen fight would of been against Anderson Silva. He should of got the title shot after he ran through a currently undefeated Demian Maia, but he did not he was given a Olympic caliber wrestler who could just hold him down and grind out a decision (which he did). He didn't even get beat up, he beat up Sonnen more in the loss did Sonnen did in a win. But the guy he knocked out in less than a minute gets a title shot?? In my opinion the UFC screwed the one guy in the Middleweight division with a chance to dethrone the labeled "best pound for pound fighter on the planet".
But now instead of having a fight that everyone wants to see in Marquardt vs Silva you get a fight that hardly anyone cares about in Silva vs Sonnen. Now besides Marquardt you have 3 other potential threats to Anderson Silva's Middleweight title. That is Wanderlei Silva, Yoshihiro Akiyama, and Vitor Belfort. Akiyama and Silva fight each other in a future UFC so you are already eliminating one of them from getting to the title, and Belfort can not seem to stay healthy enough to get there so he will need to fight another fight before he can get another shot and he is not rumored to be able to fight til fall or winter. So what are you going to do, assuming Silva defeats Sonnen? You can give the shot to Marquardt should he get passed Rousimar Palhares or you can listen to Alan Belcher's whining and give it to him and feed Silva another win and just continue to bore fans. There is a potential GSP match up in the future, but Dana has reportedly said they have to defend the title two more times before that happens. But this is THE CODY'S solution. Renegotiate with Anderson Silva, and try to offer him as much $$ as possible to have him fight permanently at 205 which gives UFC fans interest in A LOT of match ups for him. Then that has the doors wide open in the Middleweight division to make it interesting again, without Silva anyone can win that title. Wanderlei Silva, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Vitor Belfort, Nate Marquardt, Chael Sonnen, Yushin Okami, Micheal Bisping etc. That would be a wide open division and you put butts back in the seats. If you continue to feed Anderson Silva his opponent by forcing people who could potentially beat him into more and more fights where eventually they will lose one, people are going to turn their attention more to Strikeforce than the UFC mark my words.
I could be wrong may be there are fans out there that still are interested in every opponent Anderson Silva has, but I doubt it. I guarantee the UFC will make more money and the Middleweight division will become interesting again if you send Anderson Silva to the Light-Heavyweight division. Point, blank and period.

I personally think Bisping should NOT be in any where near the top of the middleweight div. with back to back losses to wandy and then a bad KO form hendo he shows that he cant beat guys past their prime. The guys that are in their prime like Belcher would destroy Bisping.

I have to agree with Charley. Bisping never has looked like a threat in the middle weight division. I also agree that not getting past Hendo and Wandy (although I think that he was robbed in the Wandy fight)has shown that he either has a lot to learn yet, or he has reached his peak. There are so many other fighters out there yet to prove themselves. There are a couple of dark horses about to come onto the scene with the latest series of TUF. I honestly think that with a year of excellent training and technical maturity, these guys can maybe even surpass Bisping.
Has Bisping become a 'gatekeeper' or 'journeyman'? I honestly think he has.
It's like a computer game you are playing that you just cannot get past a certain level or level boss. It may not be too long before Bisping fights on the non-televised fightcard. Dont get me wrong - there are planty other fighters to fillthis slot before Bisping but if he doesn't start winning and winning with flair, he may be lost in obscurity. Maybe Dana puts him on the main card so the fans over here dont lose interest in the UFC. We are used to the Brit fighters being on the cards and some of us (like me) make a point of staying up in the wee hours with the time difference to see how the 'local' boys are doing. I may be switching to watching the repeat if it doesnt get a bit more exciting. Although, I run the risk of not taking part in the live blogcast on here, lol!
In short, I thinnk it's time we had a new sensation coming into the middleweight division.

Can you see your penis Cody?

No he cant, he is unaware that intercourse is so much more enjoyable when the penetration area is visible. Due to the lack of participation in intercourse, this is still a gray area for "The Cody".

          I wish you well XXL.

Cody, did you know you can get a penis sheath to extend your junk? Sure, the pleasurable feeling isnt there, but at least he or she would be able to receive some stimulation.
