The Cody's Corner - Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans

This fight is the most talked about fight in a long time, we all remember the verbal smackdown that went on between the two after Rampage's win over Rashad's teammate, Keith Jardine. Ever since people have been itching for these two to step in the cage, first Rampage had to pull out due to injury in turn Rashad lost to Machida. Then we had to wait after The Ultimate Fighter Show, by the time it was over Rampage "retired" to do his A-Team movie. But now it is finally here on the 29th of May Rampage and Rashad will mix it up, FINALLY!
Since this is called "The Cody's Corner" I am going to give my own personal opinion but taking it easy because I know that is what The Lights Out Show would want. I believe Rashad Evans is a little bit over hyped, yes he is a good fighter but he is not great. Rashad I think is still a learning striker everyone just has this fantasy that he is a great striker because he has highlight reel knockouts. Jason Lambert and Sean Salmon get knocked out by everyone, and Chuck Liddell is a little on the old side. May I remind people that he would of had a loss a long time had it not been for Tito Ortiz grabbing the cage? May I remind people that he laid on Micheal Bisping and barely squeaked out a win? May I remind people that the two legitimate fighters he has fought, one beat him and the other could of beat him had he not gassed. Now I am a huge Rampage fan everyone knows this, but I am no idiot I know Rashad can beat Rampage I get that. But I will tell you this right now, the ONLY way he can beat Rampage is if he makes it a wrestling match. He will NOT beat him standing up. Unless your name is Lyoto Machida or Shogun Rua you are not beating Rampage in an all stand up fight in the Light-Heavyweight division.
I dont know why people are so quick to count out Rampage. I get maybe your basing it on his latest performances, Forrest "beat" him and I put quotes around him because it was in the judges opinion Forrest won that fight...damn sure not mine. And I will admit had it not been for a few knock downs in the fight Keith Jardine may of one that fight. Ok cool. But you have to remember Rampage is still Rampage, he ALWAYS in his career found a way to win. Rampage just has this style where no matter what one way or another he finds your "button" and hits it and next thing you know you have a flashlight in your eyes. As a Rampage fan, I hope Rashad comes out wanting to stand because right now I will GURANTEE Rampage will take his head off. If Rashad wants to win he has to take Rampage down because as we have seen in his last two fights, Rashad has that "button" that if you hit he is on queer street and unlike Thiago Silva; Rampage wont be gassed he will jump all over Rashad and he will finish him. Rampage has beaten some of the best fighters in the world...IN THEIR PRIME! (ok maybe except Wanderlei) but point being Rashad is a good fighter not a great fighter and you guys can buy into his hype all you want like you did with Maruis Zaromskis or Paul Daley (bet that stung) or Paulo Filho look where happen to those fighters when they fought someone who mattered? "Whitemare" got knocked out, Daley got submitted and controlled, and Filho well need I say more. For now The Cody says, Rampage will win! Mark my words.

I've never been impressed by Rashad, most of his earlier fights were just boring. Now he has some boxing skills he has the potential to beat Rampage. But I side with Cody. "Rampage will win!" I hope it is a good find rather than a hugfest with Rashad laying on Ramage for 3 rounds !

      Cody I disagree...

I think Rashad will implement the old lay and pray strategy. He will also use a lot of leg kicks while standing. The fight will be very similar to the Rampage/Griffin fight, only Rashad will look better than Forrest did.

Look for a win by Rashad via Decision.

Rashad Evans will have to much emotional baggage to implement any kind of effective strategy he will come out throw haymakers and get knocked out by the more precise Rampage. But we are all entitled to our opinion we will just have to see, Rashad has all the chances in the world to prove that he is as good of a fighter as everyone makes him out to be. But I really and truly can NOT see it happening.

Did you SEE it happen Cody? Damn I've been waiting a long time to say "I told you so!" (I may be an old man, but that doesn't mean I'm mature) This fight went down exacty as I thought. Rashad = good strategy / Quinton = no strategy
