WHAT DID YOU THINK OF UFC 101?

What did you think of UFC 101?
    Did anything surpirse you?
Below are the "Fight Bonuses". Knock Out of the Night and Submission of the Night are good, but how can you give a one-sided beatdown the "fight of the night?"
Where do Silva and Griffin go from here? Should Silva get a title shot at 205 or stay at 185 and dominate? Is Griffin just a "Gate Keeper" now?
Has BJ Penn erased all the doubts about his dominance with this victory or did it raise some questions?
          • Here are the fight bonuses for UFC 101:
          • Fight of the Night — Anderson Silva vs. Forrest Griffin
          • Knockout of the Night — Anderson Silva
          • Submission of the Night – BJ Penn

andersons performance was just WOW! but as per silva goin for the title. i strongly doubt. since machida and silva are friends... but i dont think his quest at 205 is over. not many more fighters in 185 silva would even worry about. hendo? maybe... vitor? dont think so... nate the great? no thanks. hes sittin pretty at 185 i expect a couple more 205 fights for him, maybe even against rampage. BJ looked great. no doubt the prodigy is back! hendricks did exactly what i thought he would do. he a great wrestler, but loves to get close and bang...possible downfall in the future? maybe... but overall the card seemed ok. but fighters imposing gameplans wont always be exciting. so im sure those who got their wins... won the way they wanted. decent card tho.

i was there-- great time. my question is, what fight SHOULD have been fight of the night? that was the only fight the crowd was truly electric for. maybe lennox's fight, but that was two newbies with no draw. anderson's performance SAVED that card from being a total let down.

Bj is the greatest.... And Anderson should just stay at MW and let the LW's do there thing. And i dont know why Silva Griffin got fight of the night......

Forrest could be a gate keeper but it all depends on how Machida does against Shogun. Also, Silva will not fight Machida for the LHW title because they are friends. Silva should stay at 185 but I like to see him fight Hendo again or even Okami, Maia, Nate "the Great" Marquarht, or even Vitor Belfort, dependng how Vitor does against Rich. Or maybe Wanderlei Silva. As far as BJ Penn goes, he's still the best LW in the world. He did erase the doubts and it only took one takedown for him to beat Kenny. Kenny was done after he got rocked the first time. I can't wait for Diego Sanchez vs BJ Penn for the title. Fight of the Night should have gone to Kendall Grove and Ricardo Almeida, I think the judges should of gave Kendall that Last round at least. I didn't see Ricardo do anything but take him down

              7. Although I picked Hendrix to win by TKO, I think that fight was stopped a wee bit early. I think the fights before the last two were so so but that's about it.

The Forrest vs. Silva fight surprised the hell out of me. Why would a big slow guy stand and bang with a laser accurate wrecking machine? Forrest got JTFO! (Jabbed The F*** Out) :) If i were him I would retire. He's already been champ, made lots of money, and I don't see him ever reaching champion status again. You have to be damn good at one thing at least to be a champ and heart only goes so far.

It seems to me the UFC would look for a smaller, more technical, faster guy to try to give Silva a fight instead of assuming a bigger guy will beat him. GSP would be a great fight against Anderson Silva in my opinion. He's not only the things I listed above but he's extremely strong. I think that fight would sell tons of PPVs. Plus, after the way Silva got his 'Rashad' on acting like a cocky prick during the fight, I'd love to see him go nite nite. I know getting your 'swerve' on is part of the hype before and after, but during the fight it's rediculous.

BJ vs Florian didn't surprise me at all. Kenny Florian is one of the best fighters in the world at 155 that have no chance at beating BJ Penn. I think it will take Diego Sanchez or Gray Maynard to one day give BJ an exciting fight at 155, but still not sure if BJ can be beat. Diego is a machine and Gray Maynard may be strong enough to get BJ down without having to shoot at those rubber legs, but right now I just don't see anyone beating BJ Penn. Until next time! peace..

BUT....Dana said Silva was giving boring "safe" fights these days, he brought himself back for sure! Damit, was rootin for Griffin, but you gotta give the man his props!

BJ Penn is such a douch!

              9. Well, this is Anderson Silva's first impressive performance in the last 3 fights he's had. Of course they're going to give him as much incentive to put on an exciting fight as they can. Two bonuses of 60k a piece is a step in that direction.

but i don't know if he could handle machida.
yeah, this is about the worst tlos challenge i think i've ever had.

              12. i think that anderson should do both dominate the 185 pound class and get a title shot with machida, but the first 3 fights i didnt like and i expected more of the silva vs griffin fight

              13. Everybody is knocking hard on Forest but coming from his camp, his jaw got dislocated early in the fight and he STILL kept coming at Silva, He ran out of the cage to get immediate medical attention because he thought his jaw was broken and he couldn't hear from the side it was dislocated on. Forest still has the most heart in all of UFC in my opinion, sure he may of not had the best game plan for Silva but Forest is not a wrestler so if anybody thought he'd go out and do takedowns must of been smoking some really good stuff. So in reguards to Forest being a gatekeeper, I don't see it him doing that he can still compete against the best and do well.

              16. I am not sure if it's Chris or JDH who made those gate keeper comments, but I am so mad at you now. lol

Why you wanna put my boy down? Man, you hurtin' devoted listeners' feelings.

Forrest can get better. I think he will. He can still win alot of fights. If you put him at gate keeper what else you got?

If you keep him in there then you have alot of good Light Heavy's in the mix. If you take him out I think you have to take out alot of other people that got their asses handed to them by silva and haven't done crap since.

I mean come on. Forrest can still kick half, if not most of the rest of their butts.

As good as Silva is you would have to make him, Machida and Rashad the only good ones in the division and everyone else gatekeepers if you are gonna start talking that mess.

I am know I am just an ignorant long time fan but I don't think you are right.

                and for all you haters.

                GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Forrest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

              17. I thought the card's overall performance was sort of a little on the dull end. I usually like every card and am one of those that appreciates good grappling but from what was shown on TV, nothing really impressive EXCEPT Anderson Silva. The BJ v Florian fight ended on a high note but was dull up until the end. As far as everything else, I appreciate the good, hard fought battles, but most of the fights I am sure everyone will forget in a few days because they did not stand out. UFC 101 will be remembered as the embarrasing dismantling of Forrest Griffin by Anderson Silva.

Forrest will get another name in the 205 div. and Anderson has a tough fight with Dan. Forget the Machida talk, at least for now.

              19. i originally thought GSP vs Silva would be a great fight...after watching this performance...it would be a collossal mistake for GSP to take that fight...no matter the catch weight, silva just destroyed a former LHW champ...thats a 30lb weight difference...i think dana re-thought that idea also...

its very easy to see how silva got fight of the night...whens the last time a fight outcome completely dropped EVERYONES jaws? i watched that damn fight 8 times last night in disbelief of how awesome silva was...he didnt break a sweat and used NO effort in dismantling a guy who went 5 rounds with rampage, 3 rounds with tito, beat shogun...all top champion LHW's...
this wasnt a flash KO where you can dismiss it as "well he just got caught"
he embarrassed what many thought would be a major test and made forrest quit...he knocked him down and offered a hand to help him back up so he can knock him out...thats truely unbelievable...
whens the last time a crowd went from booing a fighter to loving him because of a single performance? absolutely fight of the night...no question

henderson or machida have a shot against silva...im not sure machida vs silva would be a good fight though...machidas style doesnt mesh well with silvas
hendo...youre the only one whos beaten silva in a round...lol
if you cant do it...silva is the scariest mma fighter alive...

fedors exposed himself as a joke after refusing to take on real competition...silva on the other hand takes on all comers in different weight classes...thats the true mark of the sole "pound for pound" best fighter in the world

i cant imagine anyone beating bj at that weight...diego will make a fight out of it, but he cannot contend with bj at 155...bj will stay champ until he decides to retire...

              23. ANDERSON SILENCED THE HATERS!!

Awesome skills and it goes to show that for a great fight to happen, you need 2 people to fight. Thales was scared of Silva and didn't come to fight. Cote's punk ass didn't throw any punches and he blew out his knee.

Now you get someone who is not scared of Silva and is ready to engage and he get's knocked the F*CK OUT.

These keyboard warriors need to train in a gym for a couple weeks before they start criticizing the Champ.

Now it's time for SILVA vs FEDOR. And Silva's gonna knock Fedor's punk ass out too!

                Believe that.

just a question but did Forrest take a dive last night? he has eaten a hell of a lot better punches then that and kept fighting i mean he did this kind of ole fall while waving his arms and then ran out of the cage like he just pick pockted some old lady. how could that get fight of the night i mean really forrest did nothing in that fight to even make half way exciting to watch... to me and this is just my oppinion he kind of got the feeling he couldnt hang with anderson and looked for a way out. i dont see me spending my money on a forrest griffin PPV anytime soon hopefully he goes back to spike tv fight nights. Penn put on a Clinic... so much for killin the master. that was fight of the night.

i for one think griffin has always been a gatekeeper......exciting to watch but who did he beat to get his title shot .....hector ramieriz....in a boring as hell fight and shogun who has proved what in the ufc...nothing.......and just to be honest he drawed the rampage fight imo........then fought rashad and was pounded out severely to a guy that really didnt deserve a title shot yeah undefeated but how many actual challengers did rashad actually beat...the ufc hasnt really let many earn title shots outside of kenflo the past couple years....but as for anderson i honestly think he can do whatever it is that he wants at this point....id like to see gsp after hendo to shut up everyone about is the p4p best silva or gsp then i would love to see him against any of the following, belfort, rampage, rua, evans, okami, tito, ....with all that said do realize he has stated many times he will not face machida due to training partners and friends "he is my brother" silva says
